Queenstown Airport Expansion Work BeginsWork has begun on $800,000 of extensions to Queenstown Airport's international arrivals hall and the airport's baggage claim area, ahead of a more comprehensive extension that is expected to begin towards the end of this year. Queenstown Airport commercial manager Simon Barr told the Otago Daily Times that the contractor started a week ago on work that was targeted for completion in early June. The extension of the arrivals area involves enclosing an outside walkway to help manage increased international capacity, which is expected to be up 36% on last year. In addition to the covered walkway, the airport was also extending the baggage claim area by 40% or 300sq m.
