TRENZ 2011 Seller, Buyer Numbers Exceed ExpectationsThe TIA Board is delighted with the response to this year's TRENZ international trade event, on in Queenstown 22-25 May. Speaking after a Board meeting in Wellington this week, TIA chairman Norm Thompson said there has been overwhelming interest from New Zealand tourism operators wanting to exhibit at TRENZ. “We have reached capacity for Exhibitor numbers, with 280 expected to showcase their products and services. These include more than 30 Exhibitors who have new products to bring to the international marketplace and 16 first-time TRENZ Exhibitors. “They will meet about 280 high quality, targeted international travel Buyers from about 30 countries. The Buyers are from New Zealand's most important visitor markets, both established and emerging, including Australia, China, Japan, UK and USA. “We couldn't hope for better Buyer numbers,” added Mr Thompson. “They have also exceeded TIA's pre-earthquake targets.” More than 900 delegates in total will attend TRENZ 2011, including a strong contingent of international and domestic media. Many of those delegates will pass through Christchurch, helping support the region's quake-hit tourism sector, said Mr Thompson.
