A: Check-in is from 3pm, however if your room is ready before, then you are more than welcome to check in earlier. If you arrive early and your room is not ready, then we are more than happy to store any luggage for you and give you a call as soon as you can check-in.
A: Our check-out time is 11am. Unfortunately due to new Guests arriving each day we are unable to offer late check outs. We can however store your luggage for you so that you can enjoy some last minute shopping in Queenstown.
A: All of our Apartments are self-contained – meaning there is no daily servicing or replenishing of amenities. We can however organise daily or mid-stay services at an extra cost. You are welcome to pop into Reception if you require additional shampoo/soap etc.
A: Each Apartment has freshly laundered towels, robes and slippers, complimentary shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, shower caps and soap. Each Apartment will also have various teas, coffees and milk stocked for your arrival. All Apartments have access to a washing machine and dryer with laundry liquid provided. Free underground parking and ski lockers for the duration of your stay are also provided.
All rooms offer free unlimited Wi-Fi and free local, national, international and mobile calls (conditions apply). Our One and Two Bedroom Apartments offer a desktop computer and printer for your use.
A: We are a short 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Queenstown or a 4-5 minute drive. If you don’t fancy the walk (or if the weather is too wet!) then we have corporate rates with Green Cabs NZD$10 to or from town Centre.
A: No, Pounamu Apartments does not have lifts. Pounamu Apartments access is only through stairs. If you require Apartments with easy access, please check out our Alpine Apartments for more information. Each Apartment is set up for easy access, with full wheel chair accessibility and walk in showers.
A: Our Two Bedroom Apartments can sleep a maximum of 4 people, and our One Bedroom Apartments and Studio Rooms can sleep 2 people maximum. Due to licensing we cannot offer any additional spaces in each apartment, nor can we allow extra guests to stay. We do however have our Alpine Apartments which can accommodate up to 6 people. A child older than 12 months is counted as a person. If you arrive with additional people/children older than 12 months you will be required to book an additional room.
A: To confirm a booking we take a 30% deposit at time of booking, with the remaining balance debited the morning of your arrival. If booking an Early Bird deal or ‘Special Rate’ with us, then full payment is taken at time of booking. We do not offer a book now, pay later option.
A: We do not have a Gym on-site; however we do offer complimentary gym passes to ‘Queenstown Gym’, based in central Queenstown. We have a private four person heated outdoor spa pool on-site, free to use for all Pounamu and Alpine Guests, bookings are essential. There is a nearby swimming pool at Queenstown Events Centre. Speak to our Reception team to find out more information.
A: We can certainly assist you in booking trips! Reception at Pounamu are very experienced with what Queenstown has to offer and can certainly make some great suggestions and recommendations. If you would like to book trips before you arrive, simply give us a call or email and we can arrange it for you! Alternatively once you arrive, Reception can book your trips as and when you like. We have a large selection of brochures you can look through and when you spend more than $250 on your trip bookings with us you will receive a complimentary bottle of local New Zealand wine or chocolates.
A: We do not operate a shuttle for the airport, but we do however have corporate rates with Green Cabs, offering Airport transfer from NZD$38. Just ask reception to book for you.
There are a few different transportation options available to get to Pounamu Apartments from the airport. A taxi would cost you approximately NZD$40, they are often parked outside the Arrivals area at Queenstown Airport or alternatively you can pre-book a taxi on their website https://www.greencabs.co.nz/. To get from Pounamu Apartments to the airport we have a corporate rate in place with Green Cabs – offering Airport transfers for a set rate of NZD$38 NZD for a car and NZD$48 for a van, just ask reception to book for you. Super Shuttles cost approximately NZD$26 for two people, and then NZD$6 extra for every additional person, they also park outside Airport Arrivals or you can pre-book on their website https://www.supershuttle.co.nz/.
A: All standard bookings have a 7-day cancellation policy. If cancelled within 7 days of the arrival date, there is no refund. Cancellations are not permitted for Non-Refundable Bookings (e.g. 30 Day Advanced Purchase, and special offers). Pounamu Apartments is not responsible for differences caused by currency fluctuations or for bank charges arising from any refunds. Special conditions apply to Group bookings/reservations. Reservations made through certain third-party websites and travel agents are subject to Pounamu Apartments cancellation policies. Early departure/no show: If you depart early or fail to honour this reservation for any reason, you will not receive a credit or refund. We are regulated for a max of 2 people per bedroom (this includes children older than 12 months). If additional people arrive that are not confirmed when booking, you will need to pay for an upgrade to additional bedroom/s. If there is no room availability, there is NO refund for the entire booking.
We recommend that when making a booking that you organise Travel Insurance to cover any possible changes in your travel plans.
A: The standard bedding configuration in each bedroom is 1 x King bed. If you’d like 2 x Single Beds please contact Reception via email 7 days prior to your arrival to guarantee your preferred bedding arrangement. If a Guest arrives on the day and requests single beds there will be a charge of NZD$65 per room.

A: The Remarkables Ski Field is a 45 minute drive from the Apartments, with hotel pick-up available from NZ Ski buses for $30 return, or from town centre for $20 return.
A: Coronet Peak Ski Field is a short 20 minute drive from the Apartments, with hotel pick-up available from NZ Ski buses for $30 return, or from town centre for $20 return.
A: Shop opening and closing times vary, retail shops are generally open at 9am and close anywhere between 5pm and 9pm. The closest local supermarket Fresh Choice is open until 11pm daily. Alpine Supermarket is located in the city centre and open 7am – 10pm daily.
A: The Medical Centre in town is located on Isle Street, a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. Their operating hours are from Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5pm. Accident and Medical is open weekdays between 8:00am and 8pm. During the weekends Accident and Medical is open from 9:00 am until 8pm. Contact phone number: +64 3 441 0501.
